Imbued with luxury and a serene charm, Bellevue at The Oberoi Amarvilas in Agra gets its moniker from its gorgeous and graceful design. The hotel renders a truly singular experience to its guests—an unparalleled view of the iconic Taj Mahal and acts like a perfect vantage point.

We at Architecture Discipline, redesigned the interiors of this venue as a contemporary re-imagining of this ethereal affair. The preexisting restaurant had outgrown the functional and aspirational requirements of the space. Functionally, the revamping sought to increase the restaurant’s capacity and create a greater connection to the outdoors.

We introduced full height, double glazed windows to allow generous daylight in and converted an adjoining terrace into an alfresco setting, overlooking the Amarvilas’ landscape and the historic tomb of love.

My favourite part of this eatery is its volumetric and spatial quality alongside its central focus—the cross vaulted ceiling! Bellevue is designed to express a contemporary visual language that stands in understated contrast with its mesmerising surroundings.
