A Modern Beacon for India’s IT Capital

Discovery Centre at Bhartiya City | Bengaluru, India

Demonstrating the progressive urban intent for Bhartiya City, at Bengaluru, The Discovery Centre is a flexible town hall. The design explores sustainable development with a hi-tech approach to construction, allowing for disassembly and reassembly in the future. A distinctive red ovoid auditorium, built with composite fibre, is conceived amidst an urban plaza drawing visitors towards the town hall. The material palette of the larger structure comprises glass, steel, fabric and locally-available sadarhalli stone. Perforated fabric, frit-printed glass, water-soluble steel paint and a 100% fresh air system with thermal storage result in a striking and efficient public realm.
