An upcoming project for the Postcard Hotels at Turtle Bay, Kundapur, Karnataka, is set to be India’s first resort in a high-tide zone. The scheme consisting of organic pathways that lead to double-storeyed cottages, a spa, a restaurant, tents, and a pool, is designed to create an immersive experience of its tranquil surroundings. A light gauge steel frame structural system is used for the cottages to reduce in-situ construction on the sensitive site. The cottages will be propped on stilts to minimise their impact on the shore and protect the structures from seawater. Elements of rattan and timber are used to evoke the vernacular material traditions of the region.
